BACKGROUND
It is next to impossible to avoid daily exposure to some new fitness trend or fad and the options can be overwhelming, especially if the activity seems a bit odd. Classical Pilates is quite possibly one of those “odd” forms of fitness. In countries like the US, Pilates is as common as running or cycling , but no so in Switzerland …
Fitnesspark Allmend Luzern was the first of the Fitnesspark Migros centers in Switzerland to open a Pilates Studio inside their general fitness club. The challenge for them, however, was how to teach people about Pilates — Classical Pilates, in particular. Fitness clients would walk passed the studio filled with undeniably strange pieces of equipment with curiosity, but little incentive to stop and ask questions.
PROJECT
So how to reach the low-hanging fruit?
A few times a year, Fitnesspark Allmend Luzern has an event called: “Saturday Night Live”. During this event, several sports are demonstrated in a festive environment allowing clients to test new activities and have fun doing it. The Pilates Team took advantage of these shows and Social52 was contracted to help photograph and film it.
We developed a short video explaining the history and value of Classical Pilates which is featured on the Pilates Page of the Fitnesspark Allmend Luzern website and has been shared by them through their social media channels.
